How effective is your research & self directed projects in helping you to develop your understanding of what you need to learn?
How does what your doing, tie in with what you want?
- I want to work in an art therapy-style field; maybe not as an actual art therapist; but looking at art as therapeutic; whilst keeping my own practice.
- I do want to make use of the colleges facilities whilst i am a student here; learn as much as i can; bot about my practice and different techniques but also about myself as a person (personal ethics, interest in society etc).
- I have always wanted to be my own boss; I hate being a puppet for someone else.
What have I learned?
- I need to dedicate more personal time to my practice than i have been.
- I ned to draw/paint as much as I can (maybe daily); to keep me inspired and not scared of getting back into it.
- I have a huge interest in working in three dimensional form.
- The community/teaching aspects of my work should be kept in mind at all times, however the theory should not take over my practical work.
- Creative writing is something I need to get more involved in once again, as it is another release that can be good for me.
- Blogging, in the normal sense; does not work for me.
What do i need to rethink?
- How I am going to record my future work [my own form of a blog, sketchbook etc].
- How involved do i want my community projects to be involved with my practice?
- initial approach to a project.
What have you learnt about independent study, identifying personal strengths and needs, setting goals and managing your workload?
What have you learned about yourself as a learner?
- I can work well when left to own devices within reflective thinking and ideas development, but could use feedback in the after-process.
- I NEED to timetable myself.
- i can do something for a long time [eg drawing] but leave it for just a little or long while and get scared to go back to the medium through fear of being bad; when what i really want is it to be like riding a bike.
- Scheduling library/theory time is essential for m as a practitioner.
- Having another person to work in the presence of is not necessary but helps.
- Becoming much more hand-on!
- I should record things as and when they happen.
- Planned workshop times motivate me much better.
- Mini-briefs work well for me.
